Remember…Respond

January 13, 2012

Today marks the second year of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, which affected many lives including mine. It’s unfortunate two years later much is needed to be done. If you are up to date with current events then you are aware of what took place. This is a simple post to remind you to reflect then respond.

“Where there is Hope there is Healing.
Where there is Healing there is Support.
Where there is Support there is a Vision.
Where there is a Vision there is Hope.
Thus it begins and ends with Hope.”

Kiddos!

January 6, 2012

Children are adorable and create that cute little moment in a wedding….but I didn’t want them!!

I certainly didn’t want to see this while watching our wedding video, sad but true 🙂

Videos above are not my own (found on YouTube)
This one was just too funny and adorable, so I had to add!
We both agreed early on that we would not have any kids at the wedding, but with 8 nephew and nieces (that’s on my side of the family alone) it was easier said than to accept. I had to let my little hearts be a part of the wedding. Then it was the close cousins which had children(also my little hearts)  coming from far so we had to be considerate. In the end we had a cap on the number of children we would allow at the wedding, a total of 15.
Thankfully, the venue had a conference room. I turned that room into a mini day-care :-). All the children would stay in that room during the ceremony and reception and would be allowed to enter the ballroom after dinner. Issue solved!!
As for a mini-bride and mini groom, I went without and I didn’t miss it. But I did have my nephews walk down the aisle as my bodyguards before I walked down the aisle with my parents 🙂
one of my nephews (mini bodyguard 🙂
My youngest nephew, he was too young to walk down the aisle but I still wanted him a part of the day so I purchased a wagon and had it decorated.
Actuals:
  • 23 children
  • No child crying down the aisle
  • No one threw anything
  • Conference room worked out perfectly!

New Year, New Day!

December 31, 2011

A quote states:

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” Edith Lovejoy Pierce

I say, I will open the book; it’s incomplete. I turn the page to start a new chapter, but wait it already has been started. As I look toward this New Year, I plan to continue filling the pages. The old chapters make me who I am today (did I mention how proud I was :-).  Most recent chapter is about the new addition, my husband. The road of opportunities has always been paved, it’s a matter of when you take the right path.  I plan to keep writing in these pages, whether good or bad because life is full of experiences.

May this New Year be filled with all that you want it to be and more! God Bless and Happy Holidays from our family to yours!

Blindsided

This year started off with a blessing as I birthed my precious third baby. Two months later I find myself hospitalized for sickle cell crisis not once but twice. I never deemed myself a sickle cell warrior as I grew up watching my other sisters deal with this disease a lot worse than I ever […]

Fear in Vulnerability

I recently shared on instagram some personal trials. I stated it was a long, vulnerable transparent post; which it was! I originally came on here (the blog) to paste the post so it could be available on most of my platforms but I was inclined to post about fear in vulnerability instead.  I contemplated for […]
