Suckerd In…part 2

April 12, 2012

Last year I wrote a post (here) about getting away with a  Mini-moon and Honey-moon. Going on a honeymoon four months after the wedding didn’t take place, it made perfect sense to go during our 1 year anniversary. We still wanted to go on a trip as planned, so we went skiing with a few of our good friends.

Well, we are a few months away from going on our honeymoon and I am so excited for more than one reason. I guess I should write about the happenings of our mini-moon prior to writing about the upcoming honeymoon but my excitement has the best of me.

Since I planned the wedding, hubby is planning the honeymoon, which makes me excited and a nervous wreck all in one because I’m usually the planner.  He wants to keep the location unknown so it can be a surprise up until the day we are at the airport. Well, that was the plan at first but to ease up on the pressure, we decided I can pick my top 5 locations for him to decide from.

Going somewhere tropical was a given for us but it HAD to be an EXOTIC location!!! Here are my top 5:

  1. Maldives (which I discovered years ago with a friend Natacha P.; we wanted to take trip there but never had the chance.)
  2. Tahiti (and/or the Society Islands; Bora Bora and Moorea)
  3. Fiji
  4. Thailand
  5. New Caledonia
Maldives was (and still is) my number one spot and I expressed (one too many times) how I would love to go there before it disappears due to global warming. Major, major (triple major) mistake; now he definitely doesn’t want to go because of the thought of being at a location which will be submerged by water. Well, that’s out the plan!! (Natacha if he doesn’t take me, we should still make it part of our plans šŸ™‚
All the other locations are still good except for #4. Since I’ve been to Thailand, I’m not sure if he will pick this location. But I love that place and would go again any day!
So, there you have it! Though not much a surprise since I provided locations, but not having to plan it is a pleasant surprise. I trust he will do an awesome job; we just want to get our feet wet and lay under the sun.

Suckered In!

July 21, 2011

He says he was ā€œsuckered inā€ but I call it ā€œfairnessā€.
Briefing:
I had this whole perception that after the wedding, couples change clothes and board a flight for a journey to their honeymoon location; then I started planning for my own wedding. Within weeks of planning, I knew there was no way we would do that.  All I thought about was resting after the wedding and the following day we would go to our honeymoon location.
Weeks into months:  This wedding shindig was a lot more expensive than we thought.  I was calculating based on my sisters wedding, which took place about 6 years ago.  I should have known better, not only did policies and regulations change but the prices are A LOT HEFTIER; I mean by the thousands. At this point, I couldn’t believe that I was actually suggesting for us to wait on our honeymoon.  All I knew, was that I did not want to cut myself short.  If we were going to do it, then we were going to do it right! So we decided we would wait four months after the wedding to go to our honeymoon.
Closer to the wedding months:  Given how much work was involved planning, we thought we needed to get away for a few days after the wedding to relax. In comes the MINI-MOON!! Yes, I convinced him to go on a mini-moon after the wedding. What seemed like a small plan started growing and growing! After all decisions were made, he realized:
ā€œWait a minute!  I just got suckered into TWO honey-moons!!ā€
My response: No babes, this is the least you can do after all the work I have put in to this wedding  J!!
Suckered in?!! maybe yes but it’s still an awesome idea.
Mini-Moon location decision coming soon!

Blindsided

This year started off with a blessing as I birthed my precious third baby. Two months later I find myself hospitalized for sickle cell crisis not once but twice. I never deemed myself a sickle cell warrior as I grew up watching my other sisters deal with this disease a lot worse than I ever […]

Fear in Vulnerability

I recently shared on instagram some personal trials. I stated it was a long, vulnerable transparent post; which it was! I originally came on here (the blog) to paste the post so it could be available on most of my platforms but I was inclined to post about fear in vulnerability instead.  I contemplated for […]
